Urban infrastructure and environmental development project in response to climate change in Dong Hoi city

(Quang Binh Website) - The provincial People's Committee has recently held a meeting with the ADB consultant to discuss the urban infrastructure and environmental development project in response to climate change in Dong Hoi city. Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Quang presided over the meeting.

The project has a total investment of USD251.94 million with five main components, including wastewater collection and treatment (USD58.00 million); water supply for suburbs (USD3.5 million); development of technical infrastructure in response to climate change (USD147.20 million); resettlement and site clearance (USD10 million); technical assistance and institutional capacity strengthening, public and private cooperation and local development fund (USD33.24 million). Duration for the project is from 2014 to 2020.

The project's objective is to minimize environmental pollution and impact caused by climate change, create a sound environment, improve a living environment, investment environment and promote comprehensive socio-economic development, striving to bring Dong Hoi city to become a second-grade urban area in 2015 and a first-grade urban area in 2025.

Speaking at the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman Nguyen Xuan Quang affirmed that this is a key project to change the image of Dong Hoi city, contributing to investment attraction and socio-economic development. Vice Chairman also asked relevant departments and branches to have close combination in the implementation of the project.
