A workshop to introduce Australian scholarship programme
The Australian scholarships are one of international aid programme funded by the Australian government, aiming to assist Vietnam to achieve the Millennium Development Goals and become an industrialized country by 2020. Accordingly, more than 4,000 Vietnamese have been awarded scholarships to study in Australia since 1974.
The programme aims to improve the quality of human resources in Vietnam through long term study in Australia. These scholarships equip leaders with skills and knowledge to personally drive change and influence development outcomes in Vietnam. They also strengthen public institutions and promote linkages between Australia and Vietnam. Priority areas of study include economic integration, climate change, water and sanitation, university teaching and research capacity.
In 2014, the Australian scholarship programme will give 175 scholarships to Vietnamese students. This is full scholarships which Vietnam and Australian governments has committed to improve quality of human resources for Vietnam. Aid cost for doctoral level is 300,000 Australian dollars, equivalently nearly VND7 billion and master level is 150,000 Australian dollar, equivalently over VND3 billion.
In order to help participants learn about informations of the Australian scholarships, representative of the Australian Development Programme briefly presented the programme, subjects, rights, conditions and criteria for scholarships.
