Special stamp set featuring late General Vo Nguyen Giap issued
Prime Minister signs and appends issuance cover for the special stamp collection
The event was held by the Ministry of Information and Communications, Vietnam Post Corporation and the Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Hoang Dang Quang, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai and representatives of ministries and central agencies and Quang Binh province.
Minister of Information and Communications presents a stamp picture to Prime Minister
Designed by Nguyen Du, a painter from the Vietnam Post Corporation, the set includes one stamp and one block, featuring a portrait of General Vo Nguyen Giap with a friendly smile and dressed in the military uniform of the Vietnam's People Army from the 1970s.
The background of the stamp is the image of the historical victory of Dien Bien Phu, one of the brilliant triumphs in the struggle for national independence and freedom.
The stamp measures 43x32mm and is printed in a VND3,000 denomination, while the block has a value of VND12,000.

The issuance of a special stamp set on General Vo Nguyen Giap not only aims to commemorate and honour his great contributions but to also contribute to communicating and educating the Vietnamese people, particularly younger generations, on patriotism and understanding of Vietnamese history.
The collection will be in use at post offices nationwide from August 25th, 2017 to June 30th, 2019.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of leaders and people of Quang Binh province, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his emotions and honour when the special stamp set on General Vo Nguyen Giap was issued.
He also sent his deep thanks to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, leaders of ministries and central agencies, and representatives of the General's family for the attendance of this event.
