Gov’t to expand Dong Hoi airport

(Quang Binh Website) - On May 15 2008, the Prime Minister signed the Decision No.553/QD-TTg to approve the extension of Dong Hoi airport’s new terminal. Accordingly, Dong Hoi airport was located in Loc Ninh commune, 6 km from the center of Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province, from 17030’54’’95N to 106035’26’’85E (Coordinates: WGS - 84).

This is a new inland airport which was designed to receive A320 and A321 airplanes as well as other medium-sized aircraft. Dong Hoi airport was built under the "four C" standard of the International Civil Aviation Organization, and is now one of the main airports in the North Central region.

The terminal has a capacity to receive 300 passengers during rush hours as well as a total of 500,000 passengers per year. Dong Hoi airport is managed by the Northern airport terminals.

When complete, the airport will promote trading exchanges, investment and tourism as well as economic development in the North Central region in general and Quang Binh Province in particular.

As schedule, Vietnam Airlines will start the first flight coming in from Ha Noi - Dong Hoi on May 18 2008 and it will be officially put into operation.
