Meeting in response to the World Environment Day and Vietnam Sea and Island Week 2014
The event was attended by Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Quang and representatives of departments and branches in the province.

This is an annual event happening in many localities across the country, aiming to protect environment, sea, islands and oceans.
The World Environment Day this year with the theme "Take actions to prevent rising sea levels", and Vietnam Sea and Islands Week with the theme "Together, we protect the blue oceans" aims to raise the awareness of the position and importance of sea amd islands in the cause of building and protecting the fatherland and honor the values of oceans to the life of human kind.
In reponse to the World Environment Day and Vietnam Sea and Island Week, a series of activities and events will be organized such as: good propaganda, education and awareness of protecting marine environment and oceans, experience in cope with climate changes and sea-rising level, effective use of sustainable natural resources and protecting the marine environment; promoting the study of science and technology on management and economic development in order to exploit the sea; giving priority to selecting foods with less impact on the environment; closely coorporating between economic-social development-security-national defense to protect the environment and natural resources.
Besides, some practical activities such as cleaning beach and coastal ecology, collecting garbages, planting trees and mangrove forest, hanging banners, posters on main streets, work offices, etc. have been actively responded in the province.
Speaking at the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated obtained results in activities of environment protection as well as state management on sea and islands in the past time.
In order to protect marine and island environment and effectively respond to climate changes, Vice Chairman required units, localities and people to continue conducting propaganda and education of marine and island environment and improving the self-consciousness and habit of community in environment protection.

After the meeting, young volunteers joined in the parade on main roads of Dong Hoi city, collected garbage and cleaned environment along the riversides and coastal areas of Bao Ninh.
