Mobilize more than VND3,870 billion to implement national target program on sustainable poverty reduction
In the 2011-2015 period, the province has given loans to 7,432 poor households and 1,843 near-poor households, supported to build 6,515 houses for the poor and 1,280 great solidarity houses, issued 195,486 health insurance cards for the poor and ethnic minority people and 60,067 cards for the near-poor people; provided a social welfare for 260,788 students, etc.
After five years of implementing the program, the number of poor households has reduced by 35,786 poor households, bringing the number of poor households to 16,630 poor households, accounted for 7.23%. As of late 2015, there has been 6 communes with rate of poor households of over 50% and 17 communes with rate of poor households of over 25%.
In particular, rate of poor households in especially difficult communes under the Program 135 has decreased remarkably, from 61.57% in 2011 to 28.02% in 2014, in which rate of poor households in ethnic minority people decreased by 3.47% each year (from 83.61% in 2011 to 69.72% in 2014).
In the 2016-2020 period, all levels, agencies and localities will continue comprehensively implementing policies on social welfare, developing production and business, creating conditions for poor households and near-poor households to overcome difficulties to escape poverty through preferential loans, vocational training, job creation, agro-forestry-fishery encouragement; support for housing and land development; mobilize all resources to invest in infrastructure construction in poor communes and districts, mountainous areas and coastal regions according to the criteria on new rural development, firstly essential infrastructures such as transport, electricity and running water, contributing to making a strong breakthrough in poverty reduction in disadvantaged areas, reducing a gap on living standards between urban area and rural area.
