At the meeting, participants were informed of tourism activity in the first six months of 2017. Accordingly, total number of tourists in the first half of 2017 was estimated to reach 1.5 milion, increased by 17% from the same period last year, including 27,000 foreigners, rose by 20% against the same period last year; total turnovers from tourism was estimated to reach VND1,630 billion, grew by 16% over the same period last year; the coefficient of overnight stay was an estimation of 1.1 day per tourist, rate of room occupancy was estimated to achieve 47.4%.

Tourism promotion activities have been paid more attention to the quality, bringing a high efficiency, promoting development of local tourism. In particular, the province has successfully organized a series of events such as "Quang Binh in the heart of Hanoi", "Quang Binh Cave Festival 2017" and others events, contributing to resume market of tourists in the North and attract a large number of tourists in the Southern market and the Central Highland provinces. Development of many types of tourism and improvement of service quality have also made a great contribution to tourist attraction.

In addition, accommodation establishments have strongly developed. In the first six months of 2017, nearly 500 rooms from three stars and over and three standard restaurants with nearly 2,000 seats have been put into operation, meeting the demand for accommodations of tourists to Quang Binh. Work of State management and administrative reforms have been implemented effectively and timely.

The meeting also heard many ideas and contributions from tourism enterprises, travel companies, hotels and restaurants as well as answers of related agencies.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai highly evaluated the great efforts made by tourism sector, including tourism enterprises, contributing to reap many remarkable achievements.

Chairman hoped that tourism enterprises would continue upholding obtained results, strengthening socialization activity, promoting tourist attractions, improving quality of services, building trade name and expanding business activity, contributing to build the image of Quang Binh tourism to become a friendly, hospitable and safe destination.

In addition, the Department of Tourism together with localities and related agencies would effectively implements targets, tasks and solutions of the Action Program No.13/CTr-TU dated May 12th, 2017 of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee on tourism development in the 2016-2020 period, the Resolution No.08-NQ/TW dated January 16th, 2017 of the Politburo on tourism development to become a spearhead economy.
