Over the past time, thanks to the assistance of the Central, leading and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee together with the efforts of all levels, the province’s socio-economic situation has seen big changes; national defense and security have been upheld.

According to the report of Department of Investment and Planning, in the field of agricultural production, the total area under cultivation reached 28,764 ha, up 3.7% compared with the same period. Regarding animal husbandry, many households have invested capital in breeding development so the total cattle and poultry have increased in quality and quantity. Regarding forestry, planting and protecting forest have been deployed comprehensively. The output of caught and raised fishery in September was estimated at 4,336.7 tons, in the first 9 months was 30,730.1 tons, up 6.8% over the same period, reached 91.7% compared with the plan. Industrial production value in September achieved VND 195.9 billion, up 6% against the previous month. Activity in tourism industry has had positive changes. The number of tourists coming to Quang Binh in September was estimated at 31.33 thousand turns of people; in the first 9 months was 373.8 thousand turns of people, reached 74.76% of the plan, of which international tourist was 18.423 turns. Export value in September achieved US$ 3.76 million and in 9 months reached US$ 40 million, up 52.5% compared with the same period and equal to 97.6% of the plan.

Much progress has been noted in investment promotion in 2007. Many big corporations and enterprises such as Vinashin, Viglacera, Chi Thanh Company have studied and registered investment in Quang Binh province. So far, there has been 43 projects for investment registration in the provincial area, such as manufacturing Clinker, cement, building ship, building hydroelectric plants, thermo-electric plants, ecotourism area. In social and cultural fields, many activities have been deployed to welcome the 62nd anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day with the participation of agencies, units and people.

Addressing the meeting, Chairman Phan Lam Phuong asked departments and all levels to continuously help and create favorable condition for investors to deploy the projects as the scheduled plan; speed up the progress of key projects, have the plan to work with some big economic corporations to call for investment; strengthen activities in the fields of tourism, service and export; strive to achieve the planned targets of 2007; push up the progress of the implementation of the Program 134 and 135, program for deleting cottages for poor households and implement well the policies for socio-economic development.
