Twenty-four of the wheelchairs were donated to elderly and invalid people in Thanh Hoa province on July 14 under the witness of representative of the Vietnamese Elderly People's Association Central Committee, the Vietnamese Fatherland Front of Thanh Hoa province and representative of the Australian Embassy in Vietnam. The remaining wheelchairs will be presented over the next three days in central Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces.
The donations are part of a project funded through the embassy’s Direct Aid Programme (DAP) and is carried out with assistance from the Rotary Australia World Community Service.
The projects aim to alleviate human suffering in disadvantaged communities in Vietnam. Priority areas include health, education, infrastructure and the environment.
