The province's socio-economic situation in the first nine months of 2011 has been seen positive changes. The province well implemented policies and directions of the Government, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee on socio-economic development tasks and essential solutions aiming at curbing inflation, stabilizing the macro economy and keeping social security. Additionally, the great efforts made by all sectors, departments and enterprises to overcome difficulties have also played an important part in creating a positive change in stabilizing the macro economy of the province.

Specifically, agricultural production has remained stably. The summer-autumn rice crop harvest was estimated reaching 30,204.4 ha with the productivity of 93,726 tons. The fishery production was estimated reaching 4,915.6 tons, up 3.7% against the same period last year. Total retailed sales of consumer goods and services in September rose 29.1% from the same period last year, reached VND1,023 billion. Revenues from economic sectors had a fair growth rate, of which collective economy rose 65.8%, private economy 36.6% and state economy 35.2%. Investment capital rose 2%, reached VND155.7 billion; state budget revenue reached VND117.185 billion in September and VND1,157.965 billion in the first nine months, up 20.7% from the same period last year. Export turnover was estimated reaching US$13.7 million; the number of visitors to Quang Binh reached 85.6 thousand people; revenues from tourism, hotels and restaurants were estimated at 78.7 billion.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Huu Hoai asked all levels and departments to try their best to fulfill the targets for socio-economic development and main tasks in the remaining months of 2011.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development should focus on planting forest, rubber tree and vegetables for winter harvest; develop the large-sized cattle-breeding models and check work of building new areas at grassroots level, chairman Hoai stressed.

Chairman also ordered related agencies to supervise and speed up the implementation of key projects; site clearance for construction of Quang Trach thermo-electric center and the waste water treatment factory in Duc Ninh commune.

In addition, chairman asked the Department of Planning and Investment in coordination with related agencies to check the capital reimbursement for the projects to advise the Provincial People's Committee on adjusting capital for investment and development in 2011.
