Meeting of the People’s Committee of Quang Binh province with the GIZ mission

(Quang Binh Webiste) - On the morning of 08th June, 2012, the GIZ mission as led by Mr. Jochem Lange – Representative, Country Director of GIZ in Vietnam had a meeting with the PPC of Quang Binh. Participation in the meeting with the GIZ mission includes Mr. Tran Van Tuan, PPC Vice-chairman and representative leaders of the line departments and local authorities.

At the meeting, Mr. Tuan, PPC Quang Binh Vice-chairman presented the overview of the natural, socio-economic conditions, potentials and advantages of the province such as fishery, tourism, forest resources and difficulties of the province due to the consequences from the war time, natural disasters which lead to annual floods …

He also expressed appreciations to the assistance of GIZ in the project in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. In addition, he proposed to GIZ for continued assistance to the province in conducting biodiversity surveys, economic development for local communities in 13 communes of the PNKB buffer zone, infrastructure, awareness raising for local population in response to climate change…

On behalf of the mission, the GIZ Country Director highly appreciated the province’s orientations to the nature conservation and development of the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in the coming time. Mr. Jochem Lange also recommended some issues to Quang Binh province to successfully preserve the World Natural Heritage Title for PNKB NP such as increasing the quality for cave management, providing trainings for tourism staff in accordance with IUCN and UNESCO requirements.

In regard to the proposals, the GIZ Country Director proposed the province to compile all the proposals to submit to the Ministry of Planning and Investment for inclusion in the Portfolio Agenda for the negotiation between the two Governments of Vietnam and Germany in the time to come.
