Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha presented gifts on behalf of the Party, the State, and the Viet Nam Fatherland Front to support Quang Tri in recovery efforts following the severe weather

During the working session, Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee, Tran Phong, reported that in recent days, the province has experienced prolonged periods of heavy to torrential rainfall, resulting in serious flooding and landslides in many areas.

The floods inundated several residential zones, damaged and disrupted traffic on many roads, and cut off access to some localities. To ensure safety, the province evacuated and relocated 518 households, comprising 1,558 people, from low-lying and landslide-prone areas.

On behalf of the Party, the State, and the Viet Nam Fatherland Front, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha conveyed his deep sympathy and shared the difficulties faced by the provincial Pary Committee, authorities, and residents.

He emphasised that the province’s top priority must be ensuring public safety. Local authorities should remain vigilant and proactive in implementing response measures, particularly in areas prone to deep flooding and landslides. At the same time, they must promptly provide food, essential goods, and other necessities to prevent shortages and isolation as adverse weather conditions persist.

The Deputy Prime Minister also suggested several long-term solutions to help Quang Tri improve resilience to climate change, calling for a shift from reactive response to proactive adaptation.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and the central delegation presented financial financial assistance worth 5 billion VND to help Quang Tri Province address urgent post-disaster recovery efforts.

On behalf of the provincial leadership, Nguyen Chien Thang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri, pledged that the all funds would be delivered directly to residents in flood-affected areas.

He affirmed that the funds will be used appropriately, transparently, and effectively to help residents quickly stabilise their lives and resume production after the disaster.
