Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Hoang Xuan Tan receives Plan International Vietnam

At the reception, the representative of Plan International said that Plan International is an international humanitarian NGO that has operated for more than 80 years in 75 countries, focusing on community development and promoting gender equality for girls. Plan International began cooperating with Quang Tri in 1996 and has provided the province with total support of more than VND 798 billion to date.

For the 2026 - 2029 period, Plan International Vietnam plans to provide about VND 199.5 billion in support for the following areas: child protection and prevention of gender-based violence; improving access to healthcare, education, and reproductive health services for girls; building climate change-resilient communities; vocational training and entrepreneurship for young people; supporting small businesses in remote areas; and activities to strengthen children’s participation in policy dialogue, community activities, and schools. Priority will be given to mountainous and disadvantaged communes in the northern and southern parts of the province.

Relevant departments, agencies, and localities highly appreciated Plan International Vietnam’s commitment, companionship, and technical support, which have helped programs and projects to be implemented effectively and replicated. They also proposed continued attention to vulnerable groups of children and youth; expansion of cooperation in preventing child marriage and drug abuse, protecting children in the online environment, promoting gender equality, and career orientation for the youth, especially in mountainous areas and for children with disabilities. In addition, they suggested support for organic production models linked with product consumption, value chain development, and OCOP village industries.

Speaking at the reception, Ms. Le Quynh Lan affirmed that Plan International Vietnam will continue to accompany Quang Tri in improving the living conditions of children, girls, and disadvantaged youth during the 2025-2029 period, and will coordinate to develop the next five-year plan in line with the province’s socio-economic development strategy.

Concluding the working session, Vice Chairman Hoang Xuan Tan expressed his sincere thanks to Plan International Vietnam and congratulated Ms. Le Quynh Lan on her position as Country Director. He highly appreciated the persistent and effective contributions of Plan International Vietnam over nearly three decades of cooperation with Quang Tri, making practical contributions to poverty reduction, improving quality of life, and promoting gender equality, especially for girls and children in remote areas.

The Vice Chairman affirmed that Quang Tri wishes Plan International Vietnam to continue to be a strategic partner in the 2025-2029 period and in the years to come, giving priority to supporting post-merger communes, implementing sustainable poverty reduction projects, building new rural areas, and expanding cooperation in new fields such as crime prevention, protecting children in the online environment, developing organic production models, and OCOP programs.

The PPC assigned the Department of Foreign Affairs to act as the focal point, closely coordinating with departments, agencies, and localities to effectively integrate Plan’s projects into socio-economic development plans, make optimal use of resources, and create favorable conditions for Plan International Vietnam to mobilize funding and organize working delegations in the province in accordance with regulations.
