Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park: activities to mark five-year anniversary of world natural heritage

(Quang Binh Website) - On the occasion of the 5th anniversary of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park recognized as a world natural heritage by UNESCO (July 5 2003 - July 5 2008), the Quang Binh provincial People’s Committee held a festival in Bo Trach district, lasting from July 18 - 27 2008, including activities: An exhibition of art pictures with the topic "Hand in hand to protect the Heritage"; a fair "Quang Binh Tourism and Trade International Investment 2008"; village fair "Quang Binh gastronomy and trade village specialties 2008"; arts festival; the Nghe Temple Festival in Phong Nha Cave; boat race on Son River...

An official anniversary will be taken place in the evening of July 26 with a special musical performance, firework show and letting out flower garlands and colored lanterns in Nguyen Van Troi ferry.

Also on this occasion, the Quang Binh Provincial Group has organized many activities, namely: the contest "Quang Binh youths with world natural heritage, Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park" (in April 2008); camping fair "Pride of Phong Nha - Ke Bang" held from July 25 - 27 2008 in Son Trach, Bo Trach district; offering incense at the relic area, letting out flower garlands and colored lanterns on Son river and so forth.

As from the mid June 2008, the campaign Board for Phong Nha - Ke Bang has implemented the 200-day Plan to propagandize, popularize and voting for Phong Nha - Ke Bang in the list of new 7 natural wonders of the world via Internet.
