Vallet scholarships awarded to outstanding students in three central provinces
The ceremony was attended by French Professor Odon Vallet from France's Scorbonne Paris University; Professor Tran Thanh Van, Chairman of Meeting Vietnam Organization in France; Professor Le Kim Ngoc, Chairwoman of Vietnam Children Sponsoring Association in France; representatives of provincial leaders, agencies, organizations, Quang Binh Study Promotion Association and nearly 300 outstanding pupils and students in universities, colleges, high schools, SOS kindergarten from the central provinces of Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Ha Tinh.
Among 272 scholarships, a special scholarship worth over 2 billion dongs was presented to Nguyen The Quynh from the Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted (Quang Binh) who wom a gold medal at the 2016 International Physics Olympiad in Switzerland.
Quang Binh alone was received 192 scholarships. Each scholarship for pupils and students values at 7 million dongs and 12 million dongs respectively.
This is a source of great encouragement for poor and studious pupils and students in the three central provinces.
The fund was established by French Professor Odon Vallet, from France’s Sorbonne Paris University, through the Meeting Vietnam organisation founded by the Vietnamese-French Professor Tran Thanh Van.
Over the past 16 years, Odon Vallet has used his own money to finance the grants for excellent young students in France and Vietnam.
Since its establishment in 2001, the Vallet Scholarship Fund has allocated over 100 billion VND (4.76 million USD) to more than 21,000 students.
Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Odon Vallet apllauded efforts made by excellent pupils and students of the three central provinces of Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Ha Tinh in the 2015-2016 academic year. He pledged to continue standing side by side with poor pupils and students with excellent academic results in the furture.
