The event was attended by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Tien Dung, representatives of related departments and localities and more than 150 tourism business enterprises in the province.

In 2017, Quang Binh tourism sector has gradually overcomed difficulties and achieved many important results. Total number of tourists reached about 3.3 million, an increase of 70.9% from the same period last year, including 100,000 international visitors, up 120% against the same period last year.

Total revenues from tourism reached more than VND3,706 billion, grew by 64.7% from the same period last year, of which collecting from tourism sector reached VND621.37 billion, up 53.6% from the same period last year; contributing nearly VND144.29 billion to the budget, went up to 33% from the similar period.

In the year, the tourism sector has organised many programmes and activities to spread Quang Binh tourism to domestic and international market and reached remarkable achievements. Tripadvisor - the world's last travel website voted Quang Binh as the fourth attractive destination in Vietnam; Lonely Planet - the world's top travel magazine ranked Phong Nha - Ke Bang at the 2nd position in the top 15 most experienced destinations in Vietnam. Besides, Son Doong has become a highlighted destination of Vietnam tourism at the 2017 London World Travel Mart.

In order to uphold the obtained results, in 2018, Quang Binh strives to welcome 3.5 million visitors, including 120,000 international visitors; total tourism turnover reaches about VND3,750 billion; reach 300 accommodation establishments with about 6,000 rooms, including at least 15 three-star hotels and over.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee speaks at the meeting

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly evaluated the results that tourism sector obtained in the past time and stressed the year of 2018 has an important significance to implementing the tasks and plan for the 2016-2020 period as well as affirming the position and trade name of Quang Binh tourism.

In order to well implement the targets and tasks in the upcoming time, Vice Chairman asked tourism sector to focus on adjusting the master plan on tourism development; mobilising all social resources to improve technical infrastructures for tourism development; continuing to diversify and enhance quality of services and tourism products; speeding up tourism popularisation at home and abroad.

Besides, Vice Chairman Tran Tien Dung also urged tourism sector to pay attention to improving quality of human resources; building a cilivised and cultural tourism environment, contributing to affirming Quang Binh to be a safe and friendly destination.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee presents Certificate of Merit of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to excellent collectives and individuals

On this occasion, two individuals and two collections were awarded Certificate of Merit of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; six collections and two individuals were granted Certificate of Merit of the Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism; 11 collectives and 15 individuals were presented Certificate of Merit of the Department of Tourism for their excellent achievements in tourism during the past time.
