On July 4, a truck carrying 146 boxes of horse mackerel and 100kg of small prawns was sent to HCM City. The fish and prawns will be sent to trade unions in District 12, Go Vap and Binh Thanh districts as well as the Women Union in Binh Chanh District and other charity kitchens in HCM City.

The project was launched by Quang Binh Tourism Club on June 28. Many people donated fish to the project. Other people helped raised nearly VND300m (USD13,000) to buy more fish.

Tran Van Thanh, a representative of A Chau Transportation Corporation said they had helped transport the fish and prawns for free. "When the central region was ravaged by storms, other people donated to help us. I think this project is very meaningful and can help people in quarantine centres," he said.

The trade unions in District 12 received the donation on the same day. A part of the donation will be sent to lonely old people who can't work or families with small kids in locked-down areas.

Phan Van Nhut, head of a charity group in Hoc Mon District, said, "The donation will help enrich the meals of the people in locked-down areas. I also donated to help homeless people too. This is a great help when many markets have been closed."

The Red Cross Organisation in HCM City said they also received much support, including food and medical supplies from the people in the Central Highlands and north.
