Attending the meeting were Permanent Vice-chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai and representative of the Provincial People’s Council, leader of related departments and branches.

According to the draft report, in the past midterm, the provincial socio-economic situation has continuously stabilized and developed with a fair growth; economic structure has shifted onto right orientation, infrastructures has gradually been upgraded; the people’s life has been being improved; security, politics and social safety and order have been upheld. The GDP growth rate in 2006 achieved 11.3%, in 2007 was 11.63% and expected in 2008 to reach 12% (planed target of 11-12%); industry and handicrafts achieved and exceeded the set target, average increase for three years was 22.65% (planed target of 20-21%); average increase of service sectors was 11.6%; rate of poor households reduced by 3.5-4.0%, annually solving jobs for 2.6-2.8 thousands of laborers. The policy for investment attraction is more and more transparent, contributing to making full use of all resources; the strong development of the non-state economic sectors has contributed a lot to State budget and solved jobs for laborers. However, some fields of agriculture, forestry and fishery haven’t achieved the planed targets; ratio of breeding has been low, ratio of high-quality plants and domestic animals has been low...

At the meeting, delegates contributed their ideas and suggestions to supplement and complete the report, such as evaluating each field in detail to find strong points and restrictions of the sectors and its important role in the process of economic development...

Giving a closing speech, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Phan Lam Phuong stressed apart from mentioned solutions, all goals and targets should be implemented according to Resolution adopted by the 14th Provincial Party Congress. Besides, the government’s solutions should be carried out comprehensively to cure inflation and quickly stabilize the macroeconomics, ensure social security and sustainable development, concurrently strive to complete the low targets in the remaining midterm.
