Action Month for Children 2009 (May 15 - June 30) to be launched

(Quang Binh Website) - In the morning of May 12 2009, at the Provincial Center for Culture and Information, the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs held a ceremony to launch the Month of Action for Children 2009 under the theme "Joining Hands for Poor Children".

Attending the ceremony was Vice-chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Cong Thuat; Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Ho An Phong; leading representative of departments and branches and nearly 900 students and youths in the province.

At the launch ceremony, leader of the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs briefly informed of child care and protection. In 2008, rate of malnourished children decreased by 1.5% against the year 2007; nearly 75 thousand children under 6 years old were issued free medical treatment card; more than 200 congenital malformation children were carried out surgery and about 6000 scholarships from foreign and domestic organizations were given to Quang Binh children...

Addressing the ceremony, Province Vice-chairman Tran Cong Thuat launched the Month of Action for Children 2009. He highlighted the significance of child care and protection and considered it as a task of all Party and people. The Month of Action for Children is an opportunity for organizations and unions to further strengthen propaganda of child care and education, especially for underprivileged children, helping them overcome their own difficulties and carrying out recreational activities. The Month of Action for Children 2009 with the theme "Joining Hands for Poor Children" is a meaning activity with the respond of the whole society.
