Workshop on “Building pilot project for sustainable forest management” in the period of 2010-2045

(Quang Binh Website) – On the morning of July 22, 2010, the management board of the sustainable forest project of Quang Binh province held a workshop on “building pilot project for sustainable forest management” in the period of 2010-2045.

Attending the workshop were Mr. Cao Chi Cong, Head of Forestry Use Department, Directorate of Forestry; Mr. Pham Quoc Tuan, Head of the Sustainable Forest Management Component under the Vietnam-German Forestry Program; representatives of Tropical Forest Trust (TFT), related departments, branches and localities.

The Truong Son Forestation under the Long Dai Quang Binh Forest Industry Company is one of five forestry units which are selected to build the pilot project for sustainable forest management by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. In order to build pilot project for sustainable forest development, the Truong Son Forestation has coordinated with foreign and domestic forestry experts to build the sustainable management project, aiming at helping the forestation manage and use forest resources stably and sustainably, ensuring a harmonization between three objectives of economy, environment and society.

At the workshop, delegates discussed main contents of the sustainable forest development project, including: real situation of forest resources management and activities in production and business of the Truong Son Forestation, project for sustainable forest management, analysis of economic effectiveness forecast…

The workshop is an opportunity to determine optimal solutions to manage and develop sustainable forest resources, improve effectiveness of using forest, attract human resources, create jobs for local people, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, implement the industrialization and modernization of rural agriculture, stabilize and improve the life for local people.
