Mid-term meeting of the integrated rural development project for the Central provinces

(Quang Binh Website) - On August 19, the integrated rural development project for the Central province held a mid-term meeting to evaluate its results after over three years of implementing the project and deploy its tasks in the next time.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Van Thang, Vice-chairperson of the Quang Binh provincial People’s Committee Tran Van Tuan; representatives of central and local ministers and agencies, sponsors and related localities.

The project is co-financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the French Development Agency (AFD) to improve livelihoods for rural population in 13 central provinces through the access to markets facilities, agricultural infrastructure facilities and social basic services such as health, education, employment opportunities and reduction of risks and harms caused by natural calamity. The project has a total cost of US$168.2 million.

After three years of implementing, the project had gained acknowledged results. According to the plan, 48 sub-projects will be completed construction in 2011, 60 sub-projects in 2012 and 12 sub-projects in 2013.

At the meeting, leaders of ministers, agencies, sponsors and related localities spent much time to reappraised obtained initial results of the project over the past time; analyse and deal with difficulties in the process of implementing the project, contributing to fulfilling the assigned tasks in the coming time.
