Announcement of the general plan to build Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, Quang Binh provincce up to 2030

The Prime Minister gave a nod to issue Decision No.209/QD-TTg on Feburary 8 regarding the approval for a general plan to build Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, Quang Binh province up to 2030.
Accordingly, the general plan aims to conserve and promote values of the world’s natural heritage, Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, including unique values of nature, culture and history; associate conservation of the heritage with local economic development; promote values of the heritage to become one of the most attractive ecological tourism areas in Asia-Pacific region and an important motive force in socio-economic development of Quang Binh province and the North Central Region. The general plan is also to create a humane and sustainable community, preserve and develop the cultural values of ethnic minorities.

The general plan for building Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park up to 2030 covers an area of 40,860 hectares including commues of Phuc Trach, Hung Trach and Xuan Trach of Bo Trach district with 20,000 hectares in buffer zone.
In detail, the Plan inspects some activities of industry production, develop a people-living zone. In particular, the area maintains village of the ethnic group of A Rem with community tourism, develop a network of eco-tourism to meet the tourist.
The Plan gives some approaches of festival space from Gianh river to Son river and from Dong Hoi city to Phong Nha tourism zone; builds service center in Son Trach and Phuc Trach communes.
It is estimated that the national park will welcome about 65,000 tourists by 2020 and about 135,000 by 2030, of which there will be 5,000 international arrivals.

Deputy Minister of Construction delivers a speech at the ceremony
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Deputy Minister of Construction highly appreciated potential and values of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. In order to keep and maintain values of the heritage, Deputy Minister asked Quang Binh province to select the projects which the priority is given to conservation and promotion of the heritage’s value; have the plan for training and improving the quality of tourism staff; closely control construction projects in core zone and buffer zone of the park; take advantage of relations and supports from organizations, ministries, agencies and neighboring provinces to develop Phong Nha – Ke Bang to become one of attractive destinations not only in Quang Binh, Vietnam, but aslo in the world.

Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee speaks at the ceremony
On behalf of provincial leaders, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee expressed his hope that the Ministry of Construction and central ministries and agencies would continute creating favorable conditions for the province to seek investment projects in tourism and other fields.
