Son Doong cave tour closed for last four months

(Quang Binh Portal) – According to regulations of the People’s Committee of Quang Binh province, tour of exploring Son Doong Cave will be closed from September to the end of this year, said Director of Oxalis Adventure Tours Nguyen Chau A.

Accordingly, Son Doong Cave will not receive visitors in the last months of the year for its environment protection and biodiversity conservation as well as giving porters and guides a chance to have a break.

Son Doong cave tour in 2015 is full booked with about 482 domestic and international visitors. Of which, visitors from the US has the highest number with 145 tourists booking to the cave, followed by Australia with 123 people, Vietnam with 115 holiday makers and others countries.

The Oxalis Adventure Tours has offered a payment of VND8 billion to the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park for environmental protection when exploring Son Doong Cave, En Cave, Va Cave and Nuoc Nut.

At present, the company receives hundreds of registrations for exploring the 2016 tour, but it is still waiting for a license from the People’s Committee of Quang Binh Province.

Oxalis Adventure Tours has been permitted to operate the adventurous tour to explore Son Doong Cave, the world’s largest cave.

Son Doong cave tour is not a pleasure trip or vacation, it is an exploration trip being full of obstacles and challenges. Thus, it requires participants to have good health, goals, and determination.

The five day and four night tour costs US$3,000 a person. Each tour has a maximum of 10 visitors, totaling a maximum of 500 tourists for a year.
