Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee chaired the meeting

The Sustainable Rural Development for the Poor Project in Ha Tinh and Quang Binh (SRDP) came into force on November 27 2013 and is due to be completed on December 31 2018.

The total programme cost for the two provinces is USD 46.2 million, of which over USD 22.7 million is given to Quang Binh from the IFAD's loan and grant, Spanish Trust Fund co-financier loan, Government of Vietnam contribution and beneficiary contribution.

Project activities cover 40 communes in six districts of Quang Binh and 50 communes in 10 districts of Ha Tinh.

Under the assessment, the SRDP project has completed 36 out of 52 targets in Ha Tinh province and 41 out of 53 targets in Quang Binh province, reaching over 90%.

According to report of the SRDP Quang Binh Management Board, as of September 30, total number of reimbursed capital reached USD 15.228 billion. So far, the SRDP project in Quang Binh has reduced 20% of poor households in the targeted communes; rate of women participating in the project activities is 54%; USD 2.7 million has been invested in agricultural development models; 05 collectives and 170 cooperative groups have been provided a financial support, etc.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Tran Tien Dung stressed the importance of implementation of project components to enhancing the people's awareness of economic development.

He also hoped that IFAD organisation will continue providing specific supports of expenses so that the project is implemented effectively as the set targets.
