The meeting was attended by Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Quang and representatives of related agencies and units.

In 2017, the Provincial People's Committee has focused on implementing the resolutions of the National Assembly, Government, Provincial Party's Committee and People's Council on tasks and solutions for socio-economic development with 18/21 targets achieving and exceeding the plan.

Concretely, economic growth rate reached 6.6%/6.5% of the plan; agro-forestry and fishery production value increased by 6.2%/3.5% of the plan; food production reached 32,000 thousand tons, rose by 1.1% from the same period last year. Tourism activity has seen many positive changes. Total number of tourists was estimated to reach 3 million arrivals, grew by 50%. Total budget revenue reached VND 3,273 billion/VND 3,250 billion, an 6.7% increase; total social investment reached VND 16,000 billion, up 47%, etc.

However, despite coping with the marine environmental incidents and floods in 2016 and the 10th storm of 2017, the province's socio-economic situation has met a lot of difficulties; value of industrial production and services has remained low; rate of forest cover has reduced, etc.

It is expected in 2018, rate of economic growth reaches 6.7 - 7.0% on an average; food production reached 28.500 thousand tons; industrial production value achieves 8.4%; total retail sales and services reached VND 24,120 billion, up 10% against the same period of 2017; number of tourists reaches 3.3 million arrivals, up 10%. Total budget revenue reached VND 3,300 - 3,500 billion; total social investment achieves VND 18,000 billion; GRDP per capita reaches more than VND 36 billion, up 6.8%, etc.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee asked related agencies and units to focus on mobilising all resources in order to reach and exceed targets of the plan.

Chairman highly appreciated the efforts made by the departments and branches in implementation of targets in 2017 and put forward to orientations for 2018 with a focus on investment attraction and tourism development, etc.
