A workshop to share experience in overcoming war aftermath

The event was a part of the regional senior managers' course in explosive remnants of war (ERW) and mine action.
The workshop drew the participation of 30 trainees from agencies and organizations operating in the field of overcoming the aftermath of war in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Sri Lanka.
At the workshop, representatives of departments and MAG Quang Binh project discussed and shared experience in overcoming the aftermath of war in the province, including landmine clearance, support for landmine victims and other related activities.
Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs Do Thi Hoai Thu provided some information on landmine and explosive remants pollution after the war, and ERW and mine actions in the past time.
Deputy Director highly appraised cooperation and assistance of non-governmental organizations and international organization in this field. She said that the province will actively coordinate with related agencies to facilitate the organizations to conduct the programs and projects, helping overcome the aftermath of war in Quang Binh.
After the workshop, delegates carried out a field trip to check landmine clearance activities of MAG Quang Binh project in An Ninh commune, Quang Ninh district.
The delegation also visited some clubs of persons with disabilities and landmine victims, and livelihood model for landmine victims, funded by AEPD in Nam Trach and Dong Trach communes, Bo Trach district.
MAG and AEPD is two international organizations which has actively operated and made a great contribution to overcoming war aftermath in Quang Binh during many past years.
