Chairman visits ethnic groups in Dan Hoa commune and inspects Cha Lo Border Gate Economic Zone

(Quang Binh Website) - On the morning of Feb 5, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai visited ethnic groups in Dan Hoa commune and checked Cha Lo Border Gate Economic Zone (Minh Hoa district). Chairman was accompanied by Vice Chairman Tran Van Tuan; representatives of related agencies and local authorities.

At present, Dan Hoa commune has 3,318 people with 750 households, of which 311 people from Khua, May and Sach ethnic groups. Rate of poor households are 89.4% and near-poor households make up 1.2%.

During his visit, Chairman asked Minh Hoa district to paid more attention to improving the spiritual and material life for ethnic groups and saying that border guard forces need to research and help local people develop production and stabilize their life.

Then, Chairman and his delegation also paid a visit and presented gift to family of Ho Duong, a newborn baby who was rescued from being buried alive with dead mother under a May ethnic minority custom.

On the same day, Chairman visited and inspected the implemtation of the projects in Cha Lo Border Gate Economic Zone.

According to the report of the Management Board of Cha Lo Border Gate Economic Zone, import-export turnover in January of 2012 reached USD13,381,224, up 206.59% compared with last year; budget revenues reached VND11,432,960; there were 4,837 vehicles and 24,638 people for exit and entry.

Addressing the working session, Chairman acknowledged results that the Management Board of Cha Lo Border Gate Economic Zone obtained in the past time and stressed that the board need to coordinate with related units to ensure customs clearance to activities across the border; speed up the progress of implementing the projects in Cha Lo Border Gate Economic Zone; strengthen cooperation between related agencies to help the Management Board fulfill assigned tasks in the coming time.
