More than VND110 billion to upgrade Quang Binh rural gird

The People's Committee of Quang Binh province has recently started the Rural Electricity II (RE II) Project, with a total investment of US$113.5 billion to improve, upgrade and newly build 462km of transmission lines in five districts of Quang Binh province.

Accordingly, 30 communes in five districts of Le Thuy, Quang Ninh, Bo Trach, Quang Trach and Tuyen Hoa will be enjoyed this project.

The project RE II, to be carried out in about 1,200 communes in 30 (19 in the north, six in the central region and five in the south), would provide electricity to 60,000 households and over four million people.

The project had a total investment of US$327.8 million, with the World Bank (WB) providing US$220 million and Global Environmental Fund providing US$5.25 million. The project will be carried out during two years of 2008-2009.

This project aims to restore, upgrade and widen the rural grid network; change and build the management model to improve power supply service with high quality and suitable cost for rural areas.

In addition, the investment in this project also contributes to promoting the socio - economic development of the localities; reduce the losses of electrical energy from 20 - 30% to 10%; cut the prices of electricity in households from 30% to 40%.
