The Steering Committee for landmark planting between Quang Binh (Vietnam) and Khammouane (Laos) held the 4th meeting

(Quang Binh Website) – On the morning of June 25 2010, the Steering Committee for landmark planting between Quang Binh (Vietnam) and Khammouane (Laos) held the 4th meeting to evaluate the implementation of border landmark planting between Vietnam and Laos in the first six months of 2010 and to deploy the plan for landmark planting in the second six months.

Attending the meeting were Mr Nguyen Dang, Vice-chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Quang Binh Provincial Steering Committee for landmark planting; Mr. Oday Sudaphon, Deputy Governor of Khammouane Province, Head of the Khammouane Provincial Steering Committee for landmark planting and members of the Steering Committees.

In the first six months of 2010, 18 landmarks were planted, achieved 62% of the plan, raising the total number of planted landmarks between two provinces up to 19 landmarks; 05 landmarks were defined, achieved 20% of the plan, bringing the total number of defined landmarks up to 23 positions. Besides, the Steering Committee also set up some coordinative regulations between related sides to speed up the implementation of border landmark planting.

In the second six months of 2010, the Steering Committee strives for completing the survey to define 21 positions for landmark planting; striving for defining 08 landmark positions, building 18 landmarks and completing landmark planting work in the field between two provinces by the end of 2011.

At the meeting, the Steering Committee together reviewed the implementation of border landmark planting between two provinces in the past time, proposed some solutions to overcome shortcomings and set up the plan and orientations for implementation in the second six months of 2010.

Addressing the meeting, Vice-chairman of the Quang Binh Provincial People’s Committee highly appreciated the obtained results on landmark planting work in the first six months of 2010 and expressed his hope that the Steering Committee need to closely coordinate and exchange information to fulfill the assigned tasks.
