Minh Le station in Quang Binh Province plunged into water

The bad weather has resulted in many landslides on a 200-km section through the two central provinces of Nghe An and Quang Binh which serves up to 10 trains a day.

Nguyen Huu Tuyen, transport business manager under the VRC, said “Rails at Tho Lao station in Nghe An province and Minh Le Station in Quang Binh province were underwater, forcing the corporation to halt operations of some trains from Hanoi to Hue and Ho Chi Minh City until the late evening of October 4.”

The same situation has been seen at Hoan Lao Station in Quang Binh, he added, noting that the VRC considered suspending a train from Vinh city to Dong Hoi city.

"We have arranged ten 50-seat automobiles at Vinh Station and 15 others able to transport 600 passengers in Quang Binh to deal with the situation. We have also reserved food and drink for passengers in case of being stuck,” he added.

According to the latest news from the VRC, early this morning , many railway sections running through the central provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh have sunk underwater. The firm, therefore, has decided to use cars for passenger transport. However, the bad weather also prevented alternative measures, seriously affecting these locality’s transport activities.

The train coded SE5 from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City has been canceled, while the schedule of others are temporarily kept unchanged. The VRC expects to take people in the southern region to Hanoi to enjoy the 1,000 year anniversary of Thang Long-Ha Noi.
