A cycling programme to promote tourism development for Thailand, Laos and Vietnam

(Quang Binh Website) - In the framework of a range of activities to promote tourism development for Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, three provinces using road No.8 and 12, including Nakhon PhaNom (Kingdom of Thailand), Khammuoane (Lao People's Democratic Republic) and Quang Binh (Vietnam) have jointly organized a cycling programme which has taken place from September 8-10, 2012.

Cycling team begins from Cha Lo International Border Gate to Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park

The programme has attracted the participation of more than 40 athletes from the provinces using the road No.8 and 12 of Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. The cycling itinerary has a total length of 350 km with four stages, beginning at Nakhon PhaNom province (Thailand) running through Thakhec town (Khammouane province, Laos), Cha Lo International Border Gate and Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park and finishing at Dong Hoi City (Quang Binh province, Vietnam).

On this occasion, the cycling team and representatives of three provinces planted 100 aromatic coconuts from Thailand and 02 areca palms - a symbol of Nakhon Phanom at the park of Dong My ward, Dong Hoi city.

The programme was a significant activity to boost tourism promotion in Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, especially three provinces of Quang Binh, Khammouane and Nakhon Phanom. This was also an opportunity to spread tourism potential and famous landscapes of Quang Binh province to international friends.
