317 Odon Vallet scholarships granted to outstanding pupils and students in the central provinces of Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Ha Tinh

(Quang Binh Website) - 317 Odon Vallet scholarships worth nearly VND1.976 billion in total have been presented to students excelling in their study in the three central provinces of Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Ha Tinh.

A scholarship granting ceremony was held by the Rencontres du Vietnam (Meeting Vietnam) organization in cooperation with the provincial People’s Committee in Dong Hoi city of Quang Binh province on August 29th.

The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Van, President of the Association Rencontres du Vietnam (Meeting Vietnam), Prof. Odon Vallet from France’s Sorbonne-Paris University and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Tien Dung together with more than 300 outstanding students in the region.

Among the scholarships, 227 were awarded to students in Quang Binh province. Meanwhile, students in Ha Tinh and Quang Tri provinces each received 45 scholarships.

The scholarship is valued at VND5.5 million for each pupil and VND9 million for each student.

Over the past 13 years, French Prof. Odon Vallet has spent all his savings on scholarships for poor and outstanding pupils and students in France and Vietnam to encourage them to pursue their study.

This is the 13th year the "Meeting Vietnam" organization has carried out the Odon Vallet scholarship program with 18,700 scholarships in total, worth 122 billion VND, to grant to outstanding students across the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Tien Dung expressed his thanks to Prof. Dr. Odon Vallet, Prof. Dr Tran Thanh Van and the Meeting Vietnam organization for their contributions to the Vietnam education in general and three central provinces of Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Ha Tinh in particular over the past 13 years. Vice Chairman hoped the pupils and students would continue upholding the traditional fondness of learning to build up the motherland more and more prosperous.
