Cuban minister visits Quang Binh

(Quang Binh Website) - On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of former Cuban President Fidel Castro’s visit to liberated areas in South Vietnam (1973 - 2013), Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Manmerca Diaz and his delegation on September 20 paid a visit to the Vietnam-Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital in the central province of Quang Binh.

Attending the ceremony was Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc; Construction Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, who is also co-chairman of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-governmental Committee; Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee Luong Ngoc Binh; Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai and representatives of relevant ministers and agencies.

The 40th anniversary of former Cuban President Fidel Castro’s visit to Vietnam, which was held at the Vietnam-Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital, had a great significance, expressing friendly relationship between the two Parties and Governments of Vietnam and Cuba.

The Vietnam-Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital was one of five socio-economic projects that the Cuban Party and Government aided for Vietnam in general and the Vietnam-Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital in particular on the occasion of former Cuban President Fidel Castro’s visit to liberated areas in South Vietnam in September 1973.
The hospital was built in May 1974 following the visit and put into use on August 9th 1981. It has become a symbol of friendly solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba.

On behalf of the State and people of Cuba, Cuban Minister Rodrigo Manmerca Diaz, who is also co-chairman of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-governmental Committee for Economic, Commercial, Scientific and Technological Cooperation, expressed his hope that the friendly solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, Governments and peoples will always be consolidated and developed. Two sides would help each other overcome difficulties and challenges to gain new socio-economic achievements.

He highlighted the regular exchange and cooperation between the two countries in many fields, especially in the healthcare sector.

Cuba expects to dispatch more doctors to work in Vietnam in general and at the Vietnam-Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital in the central province of Quang Binh in particular, helping the country in the healthcare sector, said Minister Diaz.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc paid a visit and presented gifts to patients

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Cuban Minister Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz paid a visit and presented gifts to patients and encouraged health staff of the Vietnam-Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital to continue maintaining and upholding Vietnam-Cuba friendship.
