Over 600 blood units collected in "Red Journey 2014" in Quang Binh

(Quang Binh Website) - A blood donation festival called "Red Journey 2014 - Connecting Vietnamese blood" was launched in Quang Binh province on July 21 with a participation of nearly 1,000 volunteers in the province, collecting over 600 blood units.

The event was jointly organized by the provincial Steering Committee of Blood Donation Mobilization and the Organizing Board of "Red Journey 2014" blood donation program.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee of Blood Donation Mobilization Nguyen Tien Hoang; Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion Nguyen Anh Tri attended the event.

"Red Journey 2014" campaign is launched in 25 cities and provinces across the country from July 2-28, aiming to mobilize and encourage more people to take part in the blood donation.

The programme will feature two groups of 120 volunteers travelling from South to North Vietnam. The first group departs from southern Kien Giang province to 15 cities and provinces. The second starts from Hoa Binh province and travels to the seven northern localities. The two groups will gather in Hanoi on July 26.

In Quang Binh, the blood donation campaign called "Red Journey 2014 - Connecting Vietnamese blood" has received warm response from students, individuals and members of social organizations. The campaign collected over 600 units of blood. During the event, the participants were provided basic knowledge on blood donation to raise public awareness of blood donation.

Apart from mobilizing blood donation, Red Journey also held many meaningful activities in Quang Binh province such as the Gala night “Red Journey-Connecting Vietnamese blood” and paying a visit to Mother Suot's statue and the grave of General Vo Nguyen Giap in Vung Chua - Dao Yen.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, PPC Vice Chairman Nguyen Tien Hoang, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee of Blood Donation Mobilization underlined the charitable activity as a contribution to saving many lives. He also suggested all sectors, levels and the entire population to take concrete actions to donate the precious blood drops to rescue lives, contributing to meeting the target of the Red Journey.
