Dong Hoi City holds street parade festival

(Quang Binh Website) - A streeet parade festival and "Mua bong cheo can" folk performance were held on August 14 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Dong Hoi city’s establishment (August 16), receiving of a second-class Independence Medal and annoucement of the Decision recognising Dong Hoi as a second-grade city.

The event drew the participation of more than 600 artists from Loc Ninh, Bao Ninh and Quang Phu communes. The parade starts from Dao Duy Tu high school across Nhat Le bridge to Bao Ninh Sea Square.

The highlight of this year's festival is carnaval performance to introduce cultural character of some Western countries and "Ao dai" traditional dress of Vietnamese people with expressing seas and islands.

The event aims to honor traditional folk cultural values of Dong Hoi city and spread the image of Quang Binh tourism to foreign and domestic visitors.

After the street parade program, Cheo can, mua bong" art performance ("Cheo can" performance, "bong" (flower) dance with the attendance of many local people) was taken place at Bao Ninh Sea Square.

This is a meaningful activity to express traditional culture with distinct features of Dong Hoi fishermen in order to pray for calm sky and smooth sea, good weather and a bumper crop.
