Announcement ceremony of socio-economic development planning for the bufferzone of the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park

(Quang Binh Portal) – The Provincial People’s Committee on June 25 held an announcement ceremony of conservation-oriented socio-economic development planning for the bufferzone of the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park to 2020 and visions to 2030. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Van Tuan presided over the ceremony.

The planning on conservation-oriented socio-economic development for the bufferzone of the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park to 2020 and visions to 2030 was approved by Decision No.3605/QD-UBND dated Decemeber 11, 2014 of the Quang Binh Province’s People’s Committee. Accordingly, the planning intends to promote socio-economic development and conserve environment and national defence – security for the bufferzone of the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.

Concretely, the planning strives to reach the growth rate in production value of 8.1% increase for the 2014-2020 period and 10% increase for the 2021-2030 period. Of industries, agriculture, forestry and fishery increase by 4.5% for the 2014-2020 period and by 5% for the 2021-2030 period; industry - construction increase by 12.05% and 12.4% respectively; service 13.5% and 14.2% respectively and rate of forest cover is 92.4% in 2020 and 93% in 2030.

Development of socio-economic infrastructure, including traffic, irrigation, water supply, electric supply, schools and medical stations in the buffer zone is also built with environment-friendly technology.

The planning also orients to focus on construction of socio-economic infrastructure to create a solid foundation for the bufferzone’s development; mobilizing and making full use of all resources to invest in development of infrastructures, especially economic infrastructure, making a breakthrough in socio-economic development and shifting economic structure.

By 2020, the planning sets its target to form the Phong Nha new urban area to become a grade V urban area; build and develop 5 communal centers, including: Y Leeng (Dan Hoa), Trung Hoa, Phu Dinh and Trooc (Phuc Trach) and Khuong Ha (Hung Trach). By 2030, there will form three new urban areas of Trooc (Phuc Trach), Ca Roong (Thuong Trach) and Cha Lo – Bai Dinh border gate urban area into grade V urban areas by 2030.

Besides, it also expands administrative boundary of Phong Nha urban area and develops economic corridors for the bufferzone, including economic corridors along Ho Chi Minh road and National Road 12A.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee highly appreciated and applauded the efforts of the Management Board of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park and GIZ (the German Agency for International Cooperation) in the process of the conservation-oriented socio-economic development planning for the bufferzone of the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park to 2020 and vision to 2030.

In the coming time, Vice Chairman assigned specific tasks to related agencies and localities to closely coordinate and promote conservation-oriented socio-economic development for the bufferzone of the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.
