The delegation included Chairman of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Binh province Tran Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Truong An Ninh, representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Provincial Border Guard Command, Minh Hoa district and related agencies.

Receiving and working with the delegation were governor of Khammouane province Oday Sudaphone and senior leaders of Khammouane province.

In the framework of the visit, the delegation of Quang Binh province on August 18th attended a meeting to mark 55 years of Vietnam - Lao diplomatic relations and 40 years since the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Friendship and Co-operation. This is a series of activities to mark the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2017.

In the past years, the friendly relation and comprehensive cooperation between the Parties, authorities and people of Quang Binh - Khammouane provinces have been boosted and developed.

Quang Binh and Khammouane have actively strengthened many political, diplomatic, economic and social activities, contributing to boosting cooperative relation and traditional friendship between the two provinces. The senior leaders have regularly shared experience and mutual supports, especially seeking and gathering sets of remains of fallen Vietnamese volunteer troops and experts in Laos to the Motherland.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai highly evaluated the solidarity and friendship between Quang Binh and Khammouane and stressed that the Party Committee, authority and people of Quang Binh province will try their best to maintain and develop special relation between Vietnam and Laos in general, Quang Binh and Khammouane in particular to a new height.

On this occasion, the delegation of Quang Binh province also visited the memorial house of President Ho Chi Minh in Khammouane, laid a wreath of flowers at the statue of late Lao President Kaysone Phomvihan and a commemorative areadedicated to late President Souphanouvong.

Also in this visit, the delegation attended a ceremony to receive and hand over 12 classrooms at the Vietnam - Lao Friendship School (Quang Binh - Khammouane) at Thakhec town on August 18th. The USD312,000 project includes a two-storey building with 12 classrooms. This is a meaningful gift that the Party Committee, authority and people of Quang Binh province to Khammouane province.
