At the talk, the sides evaluated cooperation situation in 2017 and put forward the plan for 2018 on border issues and implementation of the agreement to deal with free migration an unregistered marriages in border areas of Vietnam and Laos between Quang Binh and Khammouane.

Accordingly, in 2017, Quang Binh and Khammouane has maintained cooperative relation in national defence - security and border between all levels of the authorities and functional forces.

Political security and social order in border area have been guaranteed; national borderline and landmark have been maintained the status quo; free migration and unregistered marriages have not happened.

On the basis of discussions, the sides came into agreement and signed a Memmorandum of Understanding on border implementating "the governmental agreement on dealing with free migration and unregistered marriages in border areas of two countries" for 2018.
