Delegates cut the ribbon to open traffic on the National Highway No. 1A expansion section running through Quang Binh province

The National Highway 1A expansion project running through Quang Binh province with a total length of 84km cost VND3.6 trillion (US$162 million) funded by the government. The Quang Binh Department of Transportation and the MoT’s Project 6 Management Board are assigned to the main investors.

The Provincial Department of Transport was responsible for 59km, and the Project 6 Management Board for the remaining nearly 25 km.

Construction of the project was inaugurated in September 2013 with six lanes, designed at 20.5 m wide allowing vehicles to travel at a max speed of 80kph.

The project has been completed prior to four months on schedule.

Deputy Minister of Transport speaks at the ceremony

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho highly appraised the efforts made by investors, contractor and involved units and localities in mobilising all resources to complete the National Highway 1A expansion section running through Quang Binh. He hoped that in the coming time, the province will coordinate with the MoT to manage and use the project effectively to help minimize traffic accidents.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee speaks at the ceremony

On behalf of provincial leader, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai thanked the Government, MoT and Central agencies for the National Highway 1A expansion project through the nation, especially expansion section running through Quang Binh province.

Chairman stressed the importance of the project to Quang Binh province, helping create a system for the continuous synchronisation of traffic flow throughout Quang Binh, meeting transport demand and facilitating local socio-economic development as well as ensuring national security.

Deputy Minister of Transport grants Certificate of Merit of the MoT to collectives.

On this occasion, the MoT granted Certificate of Merit to 03 collectives and 33 individuals for their excellent achievements in implementing the National Highway 1A expansion project running through Quang Binh province.
