Attending the meeting, there were leading representative of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, relevant departments, agencies and branches and the press. Its main content is to evaluate the socio-economic situation in August 2007 and in the first eight months of 2007, simultaneously propose orientations and tasks in the remaining months.

Over the past time, because of badly influenced by Storm No.2, caused flash flooding in mountainous communes, damaged heavily to people's production and life in flood-hit areas, the province's socio-economic situation was also affected seriously.

Regarding agriculture, up to August, activity in agricultural production focused on cultivation for Summer-Autumn crop, total area under cultivation was estimated at 28,672 ha, increased by 3.4% compared with the same period. Regarding animal husbandry, together with development of large-sized breeding model, veterinary activity has been paid more and more attention, transport of cattle and poultry was checked closely, so epidemic disease was quickly controlled. Regarding forestry, area under afforestation was 11,636 ha, a 5.1% over the same period and reached 68.4% of the plan. The output of caught and raised fishery in August was estimated at 4,603.8 tons, equal to 94.4% against the same period; in first eight months was 26,405 tons, equal to 105% over the same period, reached 78.8% compared with the plan. Industrial production in August achieved VN D187.67 billion, decreased by 3.7% against the previous month; in eight months reached VND 1,405.6 billion, increased by 22.2% over the same period, reached 59.7% compared with the plan. Export turnover in August achieved US$ 3.05 million and in eight months was US$ 30.7 million, reached 74.88% of the plan, a 44.2% compared with the same period. In August, the number of tourists coming to Quang Binh was estimated at 60,680 people; in eight months was 356,187 people, a 5.3% against the same period, reached 71.2% of the plan, of which international tourists were 17,257 turns, a increase of 93.9% over the same period, reached 101.5% of the plan.

In August, budget receipt was VND 57.1 billion and in eight months was VND 459.8 billion, reached 69.78% of local estimates and 82.3% of Central estimates, a 49% increase of the same period. A lot of big changes have been seen in administrative reform and investment promotion. Localities and units in the whole province have deployed many activities to welcome the 62nd anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, creating an exciting atmosphere in the whole people.

Closing the meeting, Chairman Phan Lam Phuong asked departments to continuously direct business and production; deploy the plan for Spring-winter production crop of 2007-2008; create favorable conditions for investors to deploy the plans, focus on pushing up the progress of key projects, such as: Dong Hoi airport, Quang Hai bridge, Rao Da lake; strengthen activities in tourism, service and export; focus on privatization of enterprises according to the plan which the Government approved.
