(Quang Binh Website) - A seminar was held on October 27 to review the implementation of the Central North Region Health Support. Vice-chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Tien Dung, Head of the Steering Committee of the Quang Binh Provincial Health Support Project attended and delivered his speech at the seminar.

The development objective of the Central North Region Health Support Project is to strengthen district level curative and preventive health services and improve their accessibility for the economically vulnerable population in the Central North provinces.

There are four components to the project, namely supporting health insurance for the near poor population; strengthening district health services; improving supply and quality of human resources for health; project management, monitoring, and evaluation.

The project has total investment of US$75 million, of which loan capital from the World Bank (WB) is US$65 million and corresponding capital is US$10 million.

At the seminar, delegates focused on discussion about supporting health insurance for the near poor population; providing basic medical equipment and ambulances to hospitals at provincial and district level; improving training capacity, developing human resources for health and instructing management of medical waste.

Vice-chairman of the Provincial People's Committee addresses the seminar

Addressing the seminar, Vive-chairman Tran Tien Dung highly appreciated the implementation results of the Central North Region Health Support Project over the past time and affirmed that the project has created conditions to help the poor use health services.

Minh Hoa and Tuyen Hoa are two especially difficult mountainous districts of Quang Binh province with many remote communes which have no conditions to use health services. Therefore, the project is a good opportunity for the poor to access and use health services, contributing to improving healthcare for the population in remote areas, Mr Dung stressed.
