PNKB National Park celebrates 10th anniversary of its establishment and receiving ceremony of the Third-Grade Labour Medal

(Quang Binh Website) - In the morning of December 12, the Management Board of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park solemnly held a ceremony to mark 10th anniversary of its establishment and receive the Third-Grade Labour Medal.

Attending the ceremony, there were Mr. Hoang Dang Quang, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial People’s Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Committee; officers and employees of PNKB National Park.

Acting on Prime Minister’s authority, Permanent Deputy Secretary grants Certificate of Merit to individuals for their excellent achievements in the period of 2006-2010

Established in 2001 according to the Decision No.189/2001/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, the PNKB National Park has a total area of over 200,000 hectares, including core zone and buffer zone with nearly 25% of natural area and 50% of forest area of Quang Binh. After two years of establishment, the PNKB National Park was honorably recognized as a world natural heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Up to now, the number of visitors to the PNKB National Park increases sharply with more than 250,000 visitors a year, making up 50% of the number of visitors to Quang Binh, of which around 4.5% of international visitors. On an average, the PNKB National Park provides stable jobs for over 3,400 laborers a year, especially local laborers in buffer zone communes.

Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee speaks at the ceremony

Addressing the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee praised obtained results of the PNKB National Park Management Board in preservation and sustainable development of natural resources, contributing to improving the life for local people.

He stressed that in the future, all levels, agencies, units and localities need to closely cooperate with the PNKB National Park Management Board to preserve and develop natural values of the PNKB National Park, including landscapes, historical culture, geology, geomorphology and biological diversify; effectively carry out propaganda, investment promotion and tourism development; actively attract potential investors to open new tourism routes, especially form of ecological tourism; strengthen cooperation and development of human resources; pay attention to law education on forest protection and development as well as scientific and technological transfer for local people to help them improve the living standard.

Chairman also called upon international organizations and scientists to cooperate and share experience to help PNKB National Park seek the UNESCO’s recognition as the world natural heritage for the second time for its biological diversification.

Acting on State President’s authority, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee grants Third-Grade Labour Medal to the Management Board of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park

On this occasion, the State President granted the Third-Grade Labour Medal to the PNKB National Park Management Board; Prime Minister awarded Certificate of Merit to 05 collectives and 20 individuals who obtained excellent achievements in the period of 2006-2010; Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee granted Certificate of Merit to 11 collectives and 7 individuals for their excellent achievements in management, conservation and promotion of values of world natural heritage - PNKB National Park in the period of 2001-2011.
