In the first six months of 2014, GDP economic growth rate achieved 7.8%. The agricultural production value had a fair growth, rice productivity of spring-winter crop reached nearly 60 quintal per hectare. Total food output reached 196,387 tons, increased by 5% compared to the same period last year. Fishery production reached 27,050 tons, up 7.6% against the same period last year and reached 48.4% of the plan.

The industrial production value rose by 10.2%, the index of industrial production (IIP) rose by 8.3% year-on-year, in which, mining rose by 7.1%, processing and manufacturing 10.4%, electricity and gas supply 9.6%, water supply and waste treatment 8.4% and so on.

The total budget revenues was estimated to reach VND1,052 billion, equal to 47.82% of local estimate, an increase of 11.7% compared to the same period last year, in which, VND 892.6 billion from domestic revenue, VND 58.67 billion from local state enterprises, VND 263.3 billion from non-state enterprises, VND 172.5 billion from issuing land use right and VND 160 billion VND from import-export taxes. The total budget expenditure was estimated to VND 2,826 billion, reached 47.02% of local estimate.

Total retail goods and service was estimated to reach VND 7,239.4 billion, a rise of 12.5% against the same period last year. Consumer price index (CPI) of the first six months of 2014 rose by 4.95% year-on-year.

Export turnover was an estimation of US$59.9 million, reached 39.9% of the plan, equal to 80.2% compared to the same period last year. Import turnover was an estimation of US$39.4 million, reached 78.8% of the plan, up 60.9% compared to the same period last year.

The number of tourists came to Quang Binh province in the first six months of 2014 reached 1,809.5 tourists, an increase of 144.5% against the same period last year, in which, international arrivals reached 27.500, up 40.4%. Tourism revenue was estimated to reach VND 792.8 billion, up 23% year-on-year.

Social - economic fields have seen positive changes, national defence and security have been strengthened, social safety and order have been upheld, social security has been concerned, and the people's life has been improved step by step.

In addition, in the first months of 2014, the province has also organized a series of important events, making a breakthrough in socio-economic development of the province, such as its 410th founding anniversary, its 25th reestablishment anniversary, announcement ceremony of founding Ba Don town and the 1st conference on investment promotion of Quang Binh province.

In the upcoming time, the provincial People’s Committee asked departments, agencies and localities to focus on the implementation of key tasks such as strengthening inflation control and marco-economic stabilization, ensuring the situable economic growth; focusing on solving difficulties for businesses and improving investment environment; speeding up social and cultural activities; strengthening state management on land, resources and environment protection; taking initative in prevention from natural disasters and coping with climate changes; strengthening national defence and sercurity; improving effectiveness and efficiency of state management and so on.
