Quang Binh delegation conducts survey and working session with the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland

(Quang Binh Portal) - Continuing the Program for promoting Vietnamese Localities, on June 10, 2025 (local time), in the city of Olten, Solothurn Canton, Switzerland, the  Quang Binh delegation led by Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Doan Ngoc Lam, conducted a survey and working session with the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW).

Overview of the working session

The delegation was accompanied by Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Cong Huan; Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy; representatives from the Office of the Provincial People's Committee, Department of Finance, and Department of Science and Technology. The session was chaired by Director Michele Canonico, along with the attendance of professors and associate professors from affiliated universities.

This is a part of the “Program for Promoting Vietnamese Localities in the Czech Republic, the Kingdom of Belgium, and Switzerland”, organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the Vietnamese Embassies in respective countries, and the People's Committees of the provinces and cities of Quang Binh, Bac Lieu, Vinh Long, Hue, and Phu Yen.

The University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), established in 2006, is one of Switzerland’s leading and most innovative universities of applied sciences. FHNW comprises 10 schools specializing in Applied Psychology, Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geology, Art and Design, Life Sciences, Music, Teacher Education, Social Work, Engineering, and Business. Its modern campuses are located in Northwestern Switzerland, near the borders with Germany and France, and close to major cities such as Basel and Zurich, as well as local and international companies.

Over the years, FHNW has achieved notable success in education, research, and innovation. It is consistently ranked highly in national rankings for both teaching quality and applied research. Many of FHNW’s research projects have produced groundbreaking solutions and made a positive impact on the community. Its students and alumni have also won numerous awards in both national and international competitions.

During the session, the delegation toured the university’s facilities and was introduced to its development journey, an overview of its training and professional development programs, achievements in teaching and research, as well as FHNW’s collaboration activities with various international partners and localities. The delegation also engaged in discussions and shared ideas, proposing areas of cooperation with FHNW, including tourism promotion and investment facilitation through FHNW’s business network; knowledge-sharing partnerships; collaboration in training experts and improving human resource quality; and conducting research and applying science and technology in the priority development sectors of Quang Binh and the newly established Quang Tri Province.

These discussions lay the groundwork for future cooperative plans aimed at enhancing human resource quality, international integration, and the advancement of science, technology, and innovation between Quang Binh, the newly established Quang Tri Province, FHNW, and universities across Switzerland.
