Former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu paid a visit to flood-hit people in Quang Binh

In his working visit to Quang Binh from September 25 to 27, Former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu paid a visit to flood-hit people in Canh Hoa commune, Tuyen Hoa district, Quang Binh province on September 26 2007.

Canh Hoa is the worst affected commune in the past flood. 650 out of 850 houses were submerged, 8 houses were collapsed or washed away by the flood, 3 schools and 114 houses were damaged; 24 people were injured, 53 ha of rice and 10 ha of green peas were waterlogged, etc. The total damage was estimated at over VND 12 billion.

Talking with people in Canh Hoa commune, former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu expressed his condolence to flood-hit families who suffered huge human and material losses caused the Storm No.2 and encouraged flood-hit people overcome difficulties to rapidly stabilize their lives. He praised the great efforts of people in prevention and against flood and natural disaster, simultaneously reminded local authorities to direct people to speed up production.

Former Party Secretary Le Kha Phieu also paid a visit and granted gifts to the hardest hit families of Mr. Pham Van Truong, Mr. Pham Van Phong and Mrs. Ho Thi Dao; presented gifts to children on occasion of Mid-autumn Festival.

On this occasion, Former Party Secretary Le Kha Phieu also had a talk to cadres and workers of the Gianh River Cement Plant. He praised the great achievements that the Plant obtained in the past time and stressed that the Plant need to extent its scope and production and manufacture high quality products to meet the need of domestic market and export to overseas markets.
