1.2 billion VND in emergency aid sent to flood-stricken central region

(The Labour) - On the behalf of the Standing Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front, VFF President Pham The Duyet on Nov. 1 sent a letter of sympathy to leaders and people of the provinces, namely: Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai which have been inundated by flooding over the last few days.

Through VFF branches in the said provinces, the Standing Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front presents Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam provinces with 300 million VND each, and Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Quang Ngai provinces with 200 million VND each.

This money will contribute to helping flood-hit families having people dead (VND2 million each) or the injured (VND 1 million each) and repairing the consequences caused by the flooding.

According to initial reports, heavy flooding in the central region over the last two days have left 14 people dead or missing and 25 others injured.

Floods have damaged hundreds of houses and schools, forcing the evacuation of thousands of people, and destroying many hectares of rice fields and other food crops.
