Acting on the State President's authority, Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan awards the "Hero of the People’s Armed Forces" title to the youth of Quang Binh province

The Quang Binh provincial youth volunteer force was established on June 5, 1965 during the war against the US imperialists and had more than 6,500 members. During its 10 years of operation (1965-1975), with the participation of over 20,000 members, the youth volunteer force built nearly 1,000 kilometres of roads, shot down eight US aircrafts, constructed 200 war complexes and transported tens of thousands of tonnes of arms and ammunition to the battlefields.

The force’s feats of arms symbolize the revolutionary heroism of the Ho Chi Minh era and their lives have become exemplary role models for the following generations.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai praised the great achievements made by the Quang Binh provincial youth volunteer force during the war against the US imperialists and highly appreciated the role and contribution of the provincial Former Youth Volunteer Association to the cause of socio-economic development of the province over the recent years.

In the coming time, the Association should pay attention to help its members overcome difficulties and improve their lives, as well as contribute to alleviating hunger and reducing poverty in the province, actively respond to the patriotic emulation movements and promote social welfare activities, Chairman Hoai asked.

On this occasion, State President awarded the "Hero of the People’s Armed Forces" title to the youth of Quang Binh province for their sacrifices and contributions to the country’s liberation; Vice State President presented gifts to 10 typical voluntary youths of Quang Binh province.
