5th session of the 16th Provincial People’s Council officially opened

(Quang Binh Website) - The 5th session of the 16th Provincial People’s Council (PPC) was formally opened this morning (July 10) at the meeting hall of the provincial People's Committee. The session will be taken place from July 10 to July 12 and live broadcast on the Quang Binh Television.

The session was co-chaired by Mr. Luong Ngoc Binh, Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Council, and members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council.

Present at the session were provincial leaders; representatives of agencies and unions at provincial levels, leaders of districts and city together with deputies of the 16th Provincial People's Council.

In the first working day, the Provincial People’s Council will hear 8 reports and 11 statements on evaluation of the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in the first half of 2012; main tasks and solutions for implementation of socio-economic development plan in the second half of 2012; operation results of the provincial People's Council, People's Court and People's Procuracy; ideas and petitions of the people before the 5th session; the 3rd session outcomes of the 13th National Assembly; the investigation reports made by the Departments of the Provincial People's Council and so on.

Addressing the opening ceremony, PPC Chairman Luong Ngoc Binh stressed that the 5th session would focus on discussing and deciding a wide range of major issues of the province.

In order to achieve good results, Chairman Binh asked that deputies need to raise their role and responsibility, uphold the democracy, contribute the qualified ideas and take practical measures in accordance with the province's socio-economic situation, contributing to successfully implementing the socio-economic development plan for 2012.

Deputies should focus on dealing with difficulties and challenges to improve the quality and efficiency of production and business activities; strengthen management on cultural - social affairs, consolidate national defence and security, maintain social safety and order; make full use of all resources and bring into play internal force to fulfill the targets and tasks set by the provincial People's Council, Chairman added.

The Provincial People's Committee, departments and branches, localities and units should closely coordinate and take effective measures to timely consider and solve the voters' petitions, the deputies' questions and issues that the people concerned, said Mr Binh.
