The campaign, in its third year, is carried out by the the National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion in co-operation with Nhan Ai Vong Tay Viet Joint Stock Company, Vietnam Television’s channel 24 and the steering board of blood donation campaign in 22 provinces and cities across the country under the direction of the Ministry of Health and the National Steering Board of Blood Donation.

With the message entitled “Connecting Vietnamese blood”, Red Journey 2015 blood donation campaign is held from July 3-26 in 22 provinces and cities nationwide with the participation of 120 volunteers, aiming to attract about 20,000 donors and receive at least 17,000 units of blood.

In Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province, Red Journey 2015 blood donation campaign in coordination with the Steering Board of the Provincial Blood Donation, Provincial Red Cross Society and related units held a gala night to honour and review a decade of the blood donation in Quang Binh province.

At the event, the Vietnam Red Cross Society awarded certificates of merits to 10 organizations, 10 individuals and 3 households; the Provincial People’s Committee granted certificates of merits to 10 collectives, 9 individuals and 3 households certificates; the Steering Board of Provincial Blood Donation awarded certificates of merits to 41 individuals for their outstanding contributions to blood donation campaign.

On July 21, the Red Journey launched a blood donation drive with the theme entitled “The pink blood drops commemorate the General”, aiming to raise awareness about blood donation as well as the danger of Thalasssemia.

The blood donation drive attracted more than 1,500 donors across the province and collected 770 units of blood from donors, surged by 100 units of blood beyond all expectations.
