Signing of the cooperation agreement on development between the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa Province and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri Province

Attending the conference from Khanh Hoa Province were members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee: Mr. Lu Thanh Hai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Nguyen Long Bien, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and Ms. Tran Thu Mai, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province; along with leaders of relevant departments, agencies, units, and the Khanh Hoa Tourism Association.

From Quang Tri Province, attendees included Mr. Nguyen Tran Huy, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Hoang Xuan Tan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; along with leaders of relevant departments, agencies, units, and the Quang Tri Tourism Association.

Delivering the opening remarks, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Xuan Tan emphasized that although Quang Tri and Khanh Hoa are geographically distant, the two provinces possess complementary potential and strengths for development. Quang Tri is strong in history, revolutionary traditions, culture, heritage, nature, and the people of Central Vietnam, while Khanh Hoa is renowned for its sea and islands, resort tourism, services, and distinctive cultural values of the South Central Coast.

According to Mr. Hoang Xuan Tan, connecting the unique strengths of the two localities will contribute to developing new tourism products, itineraries, and experiences, making the destinations more attractive to visitors. In particular, the launch of the Dong Hoi - Cam Ranh air route on August 16, 2026, has created more favorable conditions for connecting Quang Tri with Khanh Hoa, while opening up opportunities for cooperation in tourism, culture, trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges.

Overview of the conference

At the conference, delegates from the two provinces watched videos introducing the tourism potential of Khanh Hoa and Quang Tri, and were also introduced to tourism products connecting the two localities.

Based on their mutual agreement, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa Province and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri Province signed a Memorandum of Understanding on comprehensive cooperation in the fields of culture, sports, and tourism for the 2026 - 2030 period.

The cooperation focuses on cultural and sports exchanges; tourism product development, promotion, and marketing; information sharing; organizing study tours, conferences, seminars, trade fairs, exhibitions, and cultural, sports, and tourism events; human resource training and development; and the application of technology and digital transformation in tourism.

In the tourism sector, the two provinces agreed to develop inter-provincial tourism routes, distinctive tourism products, and joint tourism programs; strengthen business connectivity to develop linked tours, while integrating OCOP products into tourism activities. The two localities will also coordinate in organizing Famtrip and Presstrip programs, conferences, seminars, trade fairs, exhibitions, and tourism promotion and marketing events.

The two sides will strengthen the exchange of information on tourism policies, planning, development plans, and promotion; connect tourism promotion and marketing information platforms; share experience in the application of digital technology and digital transformation; and coordinate the implementation of online tourism promotion campaigns.

In the fields of information, press, and publishing, the two provinces agreed to coordinate in communicating and promoting major activities and events; exchange experience in digital communications and providing information to the press; organize professional seminars and discussions on sustainable culture and tourism development; and strengthen cooperation in external information and communications, image promotion, and the exchange of experience in state management of the press, publishing, radio, television, and electronic information sectors.

Speaking at the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Long Bien called on relevant agencies and units to promptly translate the cooperation program into annual implementation plans, clearly defining the content, timelines, lead agencies, coordinating agencies, and expected outcomes. He also called for maintaining regular mechanisms for inspection, evaluation, and periodic reviews to ensure that the cooperation program is substantive and effective.

Mr. Nguyen Long Bien emphasized the need to place businesses and tourists at the center of tourism connectivity; encourage businesses from the two localities to proactively develop connecting tours and routes, leveraging the complementary strengths of their resources, products, and markets. At the same time, he called for stronger tourism promotion and marketing, digital transformation, and tourism human resource training to improve service quality and the ability to meet visitors' needs.
